What are we looking for in an Environmental Aide?

The Environmental Aide works to ensure a safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environment for clients at our adult evaluation & treatment facility, Bridges. The Environmental Aide provides support and assistance for both clinical treatment and general operation of the facility. The standard workday may include participating in group activities with clients, preparing and serving food, monitoring client symptoms and reporting findings, documenting activities and progress, and significant cleaning of the facility. This position is full-time, with four 10-hour shifts from 7am-6pm; the workweek alternates between two set weekly schedules which includes working every other weekend.

Bridges is a sixteen-bed facility that serves adults who require inpatient treatment due to an emotional crisis or change in function due to a mental illness. The program utilizes an integrated, multidisciplinary team to provide evaluation, stabilization, brief treatment, and a comprehensive discharge plan that emphasizes community resources and family support.

Environmental Aide duties may include:

  • promoting and engaging in therapeutic activities with clients
  • monitoring client symptoms, behaviors, and basic health condition and reporting any potential concerns to nurses or therapists, as appropriate
  • maintaining a safe and clean environment, which may include laundry, garbage removal, disinfecting the facility, and providing supplies
  • participating in team meetings and treatment planning
  • following appropriate policies, training, and techniques for managing aggressive behavior
  • completing required documentation that reflects the activities, goals, and progress of each client
 
Position Requirements

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Credentials: Eligible for Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration

Other Credentials Required: First Aid/CPR Certification, Food Handler's Permit, Driver's License, Vehicle Liability Insurance
