Employment Specialist

Our Employment Program has an immediate opportunity for an Employment Specialist to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This is a part time position (M, W, F 9:30am-1:30pm).

  • Accompany Individual being supported at their community based employment site to provide on-the-job training.
  • Assist individual in mastering skills and meeting production standards.
  • Facilitate social interaction with coworkers and provide reinforcement as learning is demonstrated.
  • Maintain case records as required by licensing and funding bodies’ standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate communication with parents, case manager and other agencies serving the individual being supported.
  • Maintain good work habits regarding attendance, punctuality, appearance and effective working relationships with co-workers. LME staff, employer, parents and individual being supported.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent appropriately accredited by the appropriate state department of education.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working with adults with disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the labor market and community services agencies as well as skills in writing task analysis, systemic job training, counseling, advocacy and supported employment are preferred.
  • A valid North Carolina driver’s license, clean driving record and insurability is required.
  • Must have reliable transportation that will allow movement throughout the program delivery area.
