Description

Power Line Services, Inc. (PLS) is a leading provider of high-voltage transmission, substation, and distribution construction and maintenance services. PLS provides the industry expertise, resources and experience necessary to perform electrical transmission and distribution construction services, as well as construction and commissioning of substations, for utilities, regional cooperatives, municipalities, and renewable energy developers.

PLS is currently looking for an experienced Fleet and Tools Manager to manage equipment, fleet, and tools across all lines of business. This is a full-time, exempt position at Power Line Services' equipment yard in Sherman, TX.

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for the procurement and disposal of equipment, coordination and maintenance of equipment inventory, administration of both the long term equipment rental and fleet leasing programs, general supervision of tools and inventory control, as well as supervision of personnel, administration of policies and procedures, and providing a safe working environment. Essential functions of the job include:

  • Oversees coordination and maintenance of equipment for all divisions.
  • Ensures the effective deployment of tools and equipment to field operations.
  • Ensures quality, timely delivery of tools and equipment from vendors, as well as cost competitiveness.
  • Manages long term equipment rentals and fleet leases.
  • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of tool inventory management system.
  • Oversees installation, maintenance, and monitoring equipment and fleet tracking (GPS) system.
  • Supervision of mechanics, drivers, and tools and inventory staff.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring safety of all drivers, mechanics, and shop personnel.

Position Requirements

Requirements

  • Ten years of directly related experience and at least five years of management experience required. Experience in utility construction industry preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of construction, utility, and transportation equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with varying levels of staff, from field operations to corporate executives.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills are necessary, as well as the ability to successfully work under minimum supervision.
  • Must have good computer skills; Experience with Microsoft Office is essential.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and motor vehicle check, and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
