Email Opening Title EM - Summer Research Assistant  Location Cupertino, CA   Department Energy Management  Description The Energy Management Department in Cupertino, CA, invites applications for summer internship position, from qualified PhD candidates. The internship project includes research on renewable energy (solar or wind) integration in distribution and transmission networks. The successful candidate will apply machine learning algorithms to work on an energy management platform to develop optimized control strategies for distributed and renewable energy resources. The candidate is also expected to develop algorithms for renewable energy generation forecasting for market operations. The research should result in top-tier publications and contribute to novel product ideas.   Position Requirements • PhD candidate in CS/EE/ME or equivalent • Solid knowledge and experience of machine learning techniques, such as neural networks and deep learning • Good programming (C++, Python, Java, etc.) and system design skills • Understanding of energy management system modeling for distribution/transmission systems (e.g. distributed energy resources, battery, renewable energy integration) • Knowledge of energy storage applications, renewable energy integrations • Background in statistical analysis and ensemble forecasting   This position is currently not accepting applications.
