About the Organization American Nutrition Inc is a manufacturer of 3 product lines of pet food - dry kibble, baked treats and canned wet. Based out of Ogden, Utah American Nutrition has 4 plants across the US. Ogden, Utah is 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City. The area is in the heart of snow skiing, hiking and other outdoor recreational activity while being near a major city.

Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and manage all production operations at local production plant. The qualified person will direct Dry Plant operation with accountability for the plant budget and P&L. The Production Manager is also responsible for meeting customer and quality requirements, maintaining the plant's SQF Certification, leading teams in product and process control, practicing SOP's and coordinating all production support and systems activities.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Maintain a work environment of continuous improvement and lead problem solving activities, new project and process implementation.

Meet regularly with and professionally interact with customers' representatives.

Partner with quality and food safety to ensure SOP's are in place and in practice, critical control points are managed and sanitation is effective.

Partner with engineering and maintenance to ensure equipment is designed and functioning to specifications.

Lead people and teams to ensure skills are appropriately applied, learning and development are occurring and proper levels of self-discipline are maintained.

Manage and resolve non-conformance issues.

Investigate causes of faulty product and take proper corrective action.

Monitor scheduling and production of the plants, including materials, manpower, equipment, ensure all lines are operating efficiently and effectively

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business or equivalent required.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in production management in a food manufacturing plant required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements required.
  • Knowledge of high performance teams, quality management, ability to coach and develop people and teams a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems, MS Office, and cost accounting.
  • Coach: Leads by example, by walking around, creates commitment and energy in the team, shares information and data, able to progress individuals and groups into self-directed work teams.
  • Systems thinker, business analyzer, barrier breaker, facilitator, results oriented.
  • Ability to see how the parts connect to the whole operation and respond cross-functionally to meet production goals, quality standards and company values.
