Our Empower After School Program has an immediate opportunity for an Administrative Assistant to join their team in Ahoskie, NC. This is a Full Time position M-F 8am-4pm and offers competitive salary / full benefits. For further consideration please apply within and attach a current resume.

Position Summary:

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for assisting with office tasks for the Empower programs. They are expected to maintain a positive, clean, and safe environment and assist in program areas as time allows. This position reports to the assigned Director.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Answers phone calls and provides assistance as needed to callers.
  • Assists with check-in and check-out of participants and staff.
  • Prepares and files billing and paperwork according to program requirements, accurately and within designated time lines.
  • Manages and oversees online participant database/program and acts as liaison to support staff.
  • Completes invoicing, collection of payments, manual accruals, depositing of monies, and other program related finance/billing tasks.
  • Monitors inventory of general supplies, and orders as authorized by Director.
  • Assists with special projects/events as requested.
  • Prepares for and actively participates in staff on boarding as requested.
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a positive, outgoing personality.
  • Strong computer knowledge, database management experience including experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and intermediate to advance typing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Ability and desire to be a team player.
  • Enthusiastic interest in working with children and adults with various disabilities
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people while demonstrating respect and consideration for staff and participants
  • Ability to communicate effectively and positively with staff members and participants to provide a safe and healthy environment
  • Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to daily program activities
  • Exhibits enthusiasm, creativity, and a sense of humor
  • Behavior reflects core values of Accountability, Commitment and Caring.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age, High School diploma or equivalent appropriately accredited by the appropriate state department of education, 1 year of college or university accredited by an entity approved by USDOE or CHEA preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ experience working with databases and Microsoft Office products preferred.
  • Valid, unrestricted, state appropriate driver’s license; good driving record.
