POSITION SUMMARY

The Production & Employment Specialist provides community-based supervision and instruction to participants with developmental & physical disabilities on project-based Film & Media curriculum while identifying employment opportunities within the program and the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with the Program Manager to develop and implement the Film & Media Program curriculum, as well as, oversee productions through E&CO Films, and track the process of film shoots from development to post-production.
  • Supervise and train staff in teaching participants and/or supervise and train participants in the development of appropriate social skills, employability skills, and experience that will lead to employment either within the film and media industry or other jobs as appropriate.
  • Research and visit prospective filming locations to assess accessibility and modes of transportation available, as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment for production, including cameras, lighting, and computers, and oversees maintenance and condition of equipment.
  • Develop, cultivate and maintain business partner relationships.
  • Complete a minimum of three (3) face-to-face meetings with employers or potential E&CO Film clients per week to ensure participant employment or internships. Make a minimum of twelve (12) new contacts per month.
  • Make a minimum of one job placement per month or twelve per year of which six (6) placements meet 90-day retention.
  • Identify and establish a minimum of eight (8) paid production contracts through E&CO Film and Media Production company.
  • Engage in monthly meetings with current business partners.
  • Negotiate new or renewal wage levels with employers.
  • Negotiate E&CO Film and Media Production rates with prospective clients based off of current rate schedule.
  • Create, complete and maintain: job contact log, development summary log, work inventory assessment, master application, etc.
  • Market and advertise E&CO Films.
  • Provide placement updates to Program Managers and Regional Director.
  • Identify and engage in network-building activities (e.g. community and professional organizations).

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related area.

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a film-related industry.
  • Knowledge of digital film production, processes, and techniques (e.g. storytelling, act, art design, screenwriting, producing, directing, camera, lighting, editing).
  • Direct, hands-on experience working with individuals with a variety of disabilities within the human services, education or a related field (preferred).

Required Skills

  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Professional English writing ability, including usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Ability to conduct staff meetings and trainings.
  • Proficient use of basic office equipment, Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, organize information and prioritize activities.

Other Requirements

  • Occasional availability on weekends and early evenings.
  • Immediate access to vehicle with working seatbelts, valid driver’s license, current auto insurance and acceptable DMV record.
  • Ability to travel within and throughout the county in which services are provided.
  • Ability to travel in and throughout the state on a quarterly basis to attend meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Successful completion of drug screen, credit check and background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the employee to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. They must be capable of writing, using a computer keyboard, telephone and related office equipment. Ability to lift 25lbs and transfer 75lbs required.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee will be working in community environments, employment sites and office environments. The employee will experience normal office conditions with a well-lighted work area and minor noise from standard office equipment. Exposure to blood borne pathogens could occur when administering first aid to participants. Hepatitis B vaccines are offered at no cost to each employee.
