Soils and Concrete Testing Technician (Marshall Islands) 


San Juan Construction, Inc. is in search of a motivated and qualified individual to perform various concrete and soil tests (lab and field) in a safe and professional manner. This is an overseas position on the beautiful island of Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands and is of a year or more duration, with food and housing provided.

Reports to: Lab Manager


  1. Field testing of construction materials including freshly mixed concrete sampling and testing, compression strength testing of hardened concrete cylinders, soils compaction testing (sand-cone method) including the establishment of a moisture-density curve, and laboratory testing of fine and coarse aggregates.
  2. Maintain laboratory in organized manner, and report test results to applicable CQC System Manager via appropriate test reports. Includes maintaining test result charts.
  3. Assist in day to day operations of concrete batch plant and materials testing laboratory.
  4. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional manner with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements


Educational and experience preferences:


  • 2 - 5 years' experience in soils and concrete field and lab operations. Must have current experience and certifications in the following:
    • ACI Lab technician - Level 1
    • ACI Soils/Base Testing Technician and/or ICC Soils Special Inspector and/or NICET Level 2/3 Soils Testing Technician
    • Basic computer and MS Office skills for reporting
    • Minimum high school diploma
    • Strong math skills, detailed oriented and the ability to record and communicate test results accurately.


  • Familiar with Construction sequences and testing
  • Batch Plant Experience (JONEL Software/BASF Admixture injection)
  • Quality Control experience (trending, statistical analysis of lab results)
  • Government construction experience (USACE, NAVFAC, Embassy, etc.)

    Worker should be able to: compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects; picture objects from drawing or diagrams; rate information using standards that can be measured or checked; calculate amounts of concrete required for each job; and work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Physically, workers must be able to; climb and maintain body balance; use hands and arms fully; stand, kneel, bend, crawl, or crouch for long periods; and see well (either naturally or with correction).
