Construction Internship

Position Construction Internship  

Alliant Engineering, Inc. located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, provides expert professional services in the areas of land development, transportation, design build, and land survey. As a Construction Intern you will have the ability to jump start your career by being exposed to a variety of construction experiences. You will work closely with other project inspection staff in the field to learn and develop basic construction concepts, means and methods.

Job Description:

  • Assist with project inspection and oversight
  • Verify conformance with plans and specifications
  • Prepare pay estimates and maintain detailed records
  • Coordinate materials testing activities and perform quantity calculations and produce project record documentation.
  • Be responsible for gathering information or documents for design purposes and performing basic survey and design calculations
Position Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic surveying and engineering calculations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction terminology.
  • General undergraduate-level proficiency with math, surveying, construction plan reading and review, materials testing, and construction materials and techniques.
  • Basic computer skills to include some of the following program types:
    • AutoCAD Civil3D
    • Microstation
    • Microsoft Office
    • Other applicable software applications
  • Strong attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Technology, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have completed at least one (1) year of post-secondary education, with at least one (1) semester of education remaining.
