Description

SUMMARY

The Business Development Specialist generates business loan applications and strengthens the loan referral network. This position is responsible for analyzing loan requests and submitting loan packages to underwriting. This position sustains productive relationships with borrowers. In addition, the Business Development Specialist will arrange for and coordinate technical assistance to existing and prospective clients to help them improve their current operations and/or future business plans. Maintains professionalism and confidentiality due to the personal and sensitive nature of information obtained through staff and clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides overview of available loan and credit options including the terms and conditions of those services.

Meets with applicants/clients to explain and assist in the completion of loan applications process.

Analyzes applicants' financial status, credit report and collateral to determine feasibility of loan approval.

Obtains, compiles and analyzes applicants' credit report and histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.

Packages and Processes Micro Loans (up to $50,000) and Enterprise Loans ($50,000 - $300,000).

Ensures timely follow up with applicants and submits application to Fresno CDFI underwriting staff.

Markets and promotes financial products and services to individuals and firms that would benefit clients.

Represents the Agency and CDFI in a professional manner at all times.

Explains processes and takes appropriate action(s) to resolve applicant/client concerns and complaints in a professional manner.

Travels for agency business using personal/agency vehicle.

Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Works evenings and weekends as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field required. Additional work experience may substitute required education on a year-by-year basis.

EXPERIENCE:

Four (4) years of relevant experience in finance/banking sector required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business software.

A high level of professionalism is required.

Effective presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and customer service.

Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.

Strong organizational skills and must be able to multi-task.

Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred

Maintain a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Regular travel is required within the Fresno CDFI service area and occasional travel is required outside of the area for training, workshops and conferences.
