About the Organization SRG is a Washington, D.C. based restaurant company. We create original concepts and help real estate developers, hoteliers and commercial property owners enhance the value of their food and beverage real estate. Privately owned, it is led by industry veterans Desmond Reilly, Kristopher Carr, and Stu Damon. Founded in 1998 and repurposed in 2013, SRG’s core business is the development and operations of three restaurant concepts, The Walrus Oyster & Ale House, CHICKEN + WHISKEY, and doi moi all located in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. SRG is currently executing its full service and fast casual growth strategy.

Description

Walrus Oyster and Ale House seeks a Server for our high volume restaurant, bar, and patio at the Mall in Columbia! In operation since April 2018, we break the corporate mold in our selection of staff.

We celebrate individuality in appearance and demeanor, but require each of our team members to have a heart of hospitality. Creating a wonderful employee working experience is paramount to our culture. This ensures our associates will create the perfect experience for our guest.

 
Position Requirements

Server will report to the Restaurant Manager. He /She will also work directly with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager and Principals of Star Restaurant Group. The key responsibilities will be to:

  • Communicate with guests cordially throughout their entire visit to ensure a positive and memorable dining experience.
  • Maintain knowledge of the food, cocktail, wine, and beer menus in order to explain the items to guests in an enthralling way.
  • Respond to guests' questions while suggestively selling drinks, appetizers, specials, etc.
  • Properly present, open and serve wine to enhance the guests’ experience.
  • Work with other servers as well as with bussers, back servers, bartenders, and managers to create an enjoyable environment for our guests.
  • Enter food orders via POS system name in a timely manner to ensure the night runs seamlessly.
  • Work with a purpose; continually water tables, pre bus tables, reset tables, completes side work and helps fellow employees to boost the work environment.
