Maden Technologies seeks a seasoned Director of Human Resources to join our dynamic team! Based in Arlington, Virginia (Ballston), we are an established, growing company primarily focused on science, technology, environmental, and construction support to the Federal Government. The HR Director reports to the CEO and is responsible for: (a) the leadership and strategic direction of the HR Department; (b) using a team-based approach to ensure that human capital initiatives are linked with company’s overall business strategy; and (c) managing all aspects of Human Resources – staffing and development, performance management, affirmative action programs, compensation and benefits, HRIS, organizational development, employee relations, compliance, and HR planning/practices. This leadership role demands personal and corporate responsibility to build and sustain a respectful workplace. Experience delivering HR services for a Federal Government contractor is a must.

  • Pro-actively anticipate needs, requirements, and risk identification/mitigation
  • Partner with leadership to initiate, implement, and maintain programs and policies related to talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, HRIS, workforce planning, analytics and regulatory requirements
  • Offer guidance and creative problem-solving on solutions for the organization
  • Generate a strong and competent presence at all levels with the Human Resources Department and throughout the company


  • Manage a team of HR professionals
  • Manage the full life cycle recruitment process for current and proposed positions
  • Reengineer and design key organizational processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage quality and timely delivery of HR policies, processes, and programs
  • Facilitate HR planning and strategic business planning sessions with leadership team
  • Execute and enhance various HR programs, including fringe benefits, compensation and incentive administration, 401(k), performance appraisals, and other key corporate programs
  • Lead/coach staff to ensure achievement of goals and potential
  • Educate, consult, and influence management regarding talent acquisition, selection, deployment, development, and retention
  • Give advice, counsel, and leadership regarding policy, practices, and decision-making for all HR issues and activities, including bonus and performance review, employee relations, diversity initiatives, training and development, compensation and benefits, employment, and organizational development
  • Understand and apply best change management practices
  • Develop and articulate HR policies and practices
  • Offer leadership and develop capabilities for the HR staff
  • Ensure company compliance with DOL, EEOC, Veterans, and 401(k) reporting
  • Contribute to completing RFP and proposal responses, including the development of labor category descriptions and identification of appropriate salaries
  • Manage executive-level searches
Position Requirements


  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Bachelor Degree in HR or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience and 3 years of supervisory experience required
  • PHR Certification and/or SPHR preferred
  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment and solicit and give constructive feedback
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities and new technologies, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build business partnerships by understanding and contributing to the integration of HR initiatives and customer business strategies/objectives
  • Knowledge of all Federal, state, local laws and regulations pertaining to functional areas of responsibility (i.e., Service Contract Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, COBRA)
  • Experience using HR tools and databases
  • Knowledge of applicant tracking system and DOL compliance/reporting
  • Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments, priorities, goals/objectives
  • Ability to anticipate organizational HR issues/needs and generate innovative solutions
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues and ideas
