About the Organization Red Oak Recovery, a CARF accredited program, is a premier clinically-driven therapy program for young adults and adolescents. We are here to serve clients, families, and other stakeholders through a very difficult time. Our team provides gender-specific treatment for young adults ages 18-30, and adolescent males 14-17 struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues. Our licensed and experienced staff provide the most clinically sophisticated and integrative substance abuse and mental health treatment available.

As a small clinically-driven program we have the ability to meet each client where they are mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally to design a treatment experience that is unique to them.

Description

Foothills at Red Oak Recovery® serves 14-17 year old male adolescents and their families. Our program is located on a 94-acre working horse farm in Ellenboro, NC to help promote growth, reflection, and healing for those experiencing the results of trauma. Our licensed clinical team and extensive range of therapies provides the support and education young teens need to put themselves back on the right path. We are always looking for qualified and motivated individuals who are passionate about helping adolescents through their recovery process, to join our Red Oak Recovery® team.

Health, dental, vision benefits and PTO are available after 30 days. Foothills at Red Oak Recovery also provides housing while on shift, chef-prepared meals during shifts, access to on-site gym and weight room, participation in adventure activities such as ropes course, rock-climbing, rafting, camping, and hiking, an employee assistance program, and discounts through local retailers.

Guides are assigned to a 'shift' which typically consist of 7.5 consecutive days on shift followed by 6.5 days off. Employees will reside on the therapeutic property in provided housing during their shift.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide the highest level of physical and emotional safety to our clients
  • Manage client groups and help clients navigate their schedule which includes education, sports, meditation, adventure activities, yoga, equine therapy and much more.
  • Work as part of an integrative treatment team through learning and implementing compassionate clinical care.
  • Empower clients to take responsibility for their actions
  • Promote and encourage clients to make healthy decisions through modeling healthy behavior and helping positively motivate clients.
  • Teach a wide variety of coping strategies and emotional regulation skills to our clients
  • Facilitate therapeutic interventions, process groups, mindfulness sessions and educational groups.
  • Lead clients on overnight adventure activities (hiking, camping, canoeing) while maintaining the highest level of physical and emotional safety for our clients

  • 1 hour from Asheville, NC
  • 45 minutes from Hendersonville, NC
  • 1 hour from Charlotte, NC
  • 20 minutes from Shelby, NC
  • 45 minutes from Spartanburg, SC
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 21 years of age
  • Minimum HS diploma (or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CSAC or CSAC-I certification
  • Experience working with adolescents in substance abuse/mental health setting
  • Experience in outdoor/adventure therapy
  • Strong communication and de-escalation skills preferred
  • Personal or professional recovery/mental health/healthcare experience preferred
