Position Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of operations management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools
    • Lean certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple small and large-scale continuous improvement projects or tasks concurrently, and meet set deadlines
  • Proven ability to work through others to accomplish organizational objectives
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study, or equivalent work experience
    • Engineering degree preferred
  • Continuous learning & professional homework will be necessary
  • Pre-employment background check, physical, and drug test
 
Description

The RMS Continuous Improvement Leader will be part of the leadership team, facilitating sustainable continuous improvement activities, generating process improvements and cost reductions, while serving as the in-house Subject Matter Expert in Lean methodologies and Continuous Improvement (CI). The role will also provide solid analytical support for all operational teams to improve daily operations and support cross-functional efforts to drive improvements in all areas of the business. The CI Leader’s responsibilities are crucial to business advancement and can offer long-term growth potential for the right person.

Our ideal CI candidate will have an engineering background, supplemented with operations management and project management experience in a manufacturing setting. Strong communication and leadership skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to find creative and innovative solutions to challenges will be necessary attributes!

Priorities may evolve with business needs, but you will....

  • Learn and embody RMS True North and allow it to guide all Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Provide technical expertise and implement lean principles, techniques and methods
  • Act as an agent of change by continuously challenging the status quo
  • Identify key opportunities for improvement and initiate new projects to close gaps
  • Work alongside team members on the shop floor to deliver fast paced and meaningful improvements
  • Project Management
    • Identify project scope, deliverables, timelines, quality measurements, budget, change management tools, and all other requirements to evaluate potential business impact for improvement projects
    • Facilitate meetings with vendors and team members requiring complex engineering, operational, or multiple party planning
    • Identify and eliminate barriers that have the potential to slow or block project progress or success
    • Proactively seek leadership support to address barriers beyond your ability to influence
  • Integrate quality and safety across daily activities
  • Manage training and skills enhancement for all employees with respect to continuous improvement tools, techniques, and new technologies
  • Identify and implement metrics to track improvements and change behaviors
  • Produce regular KPI scorecards, ensuring relevant data is shared with the team to reduce opportunities for miscommunication
  • Work closely with Finance to evaluate and document savings and profit results for continuous improvement activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing people
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Proven track record of clearly defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions, leading to positive solutions
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions or documents and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to develop structure in ambiguous environments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
