SUMMARY

The Senior Recruiter serves as the day-to-day systems and services point person for recruiting, hiring and onboarding employees and interns across the organization. This role provides excellent internal and external customer service by collaborating with hiring teams and responding to queries about requisitions, onboarding and employment opportunities at the zoo. We are in need of an experienced recruiter who is an optimist, driven to get results and achieve goals, and is creative at identifying and acquiring top talent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Scales our teams by managing the full life-cycle recruiting process. Helps define ongoing recruitment strategies across the company, and provide feedback and recommendations to enhance day-to-day recruiting operations.
  • Leads key recruitment initiatives and larger scale/impact programs; including diversity initiatives, seasonal hiring and intern programs.
  • Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with hiring managers to discuss recruitment needs and forecasting expectations.
  • Identifies and builds applicant sources by establishing relationships with diversity community agencies, colleges, employment agencies, external recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining rapport.
  • Sources and builds an adequate, diverse, qualified applicant pool to support various recruitment needs throughout the organization to include hard-to-fill, management, and seasonal hiring. Uses a metric-driven approach to track and run pipelines and provide constant reports on pipeline health.
  • Develops and maintains recruitment process and procedural documentation, policies, presentations, forms, training content and other organizational recruitment resources.
  • Coordinates and monitors the effectiveness of job advertisements; utilizes newsgroups and job boards, contacts and evaluates external recruiters as needed.
  • Evaluates applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with hiring managers; interviewing applicants on consistent set of qualifications.
  • Guides candidates and hiring managers through interviews, offers and onboarding activities.
  • Develops and manages intern recruitment programs, provides orientation and onboarding, monitoring intern program needs.
  • Maintains awareness and understanding of current Federal, State, and local employment legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures; conducting training.
  • Provides thorough communication and updates to key stakeholders throughout the recruitment process.
  • Maintains meticulous data via the zoo's applicant tracking system - Ascentis, provides recruitment outcome reports and metrics.
  • Stays up to speed with recruiting tools and resources, industry trends, and market hiring and salary trends to better understand the zoo's competitive landscape.
  • Oversees pre-employment and internship onboarding by coordinating offer letters and administering paperwork, background checks, motor vehicle reports and physicals.
  • Assists with onboarding meetings for new and returning employees.
  • Collects and maintains employee, intern and applicant documentation as dictated by applicable governing agencies and internal policies; creates and maintains personnel files, manages applicant data in applicant tracking systems, and assists with compliance related to legal mandates.
  • Handles confidential information in an appropriately professional and respectful manner.

  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

  • Proven track record sourcing and closing passive candidates in Seattle.
  • A knack for identifying top talent.
  • Efficient and detail oriented with demonstrated multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong organization skills and diligence in having a self-starter mentality and a strong work ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills, including the ability to comfortably and effectively convey information speaking in front of groups.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a professional manner.
  • Must thrive and be able to prioritize in a constantly changing environment.
  • Be an innovative thinker who enjoys tackling a challenge.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree (B.A.) or equivalent from an accredited college or university; and minimum 5 years of full-cycle recruitment experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Non-profit experience a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee usually works in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels. The employee can also expect some on and off-site meetings with groups and individuals that may include some evenings and/or weekends.
