What are we looking for in a Behavioral Health Specialist?

Behavioral Health Specialists with PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment) provide mental health treatment to clients as part of a multidisciplinary team. Using evidence-based practices, the BHS provide clients and their families with support in learning new skills and connecting to community resources. Counseling and skill development may be provided through individual or group sessions, depending on need. As part of the PACT team, Behavioral Health Specialists coordinate with nurses, peer support counselors, case managers, and substance use treatment professionals to provide intensive treatment to clients with challenging and persistent mental health issues. This position has a regular Monday-Friday 8am-5pm schedule, but also requires participation in rotating on-call coverage outside of regular business hours.

Behavioral Health duties may include:

  • providing individual & family therapy; more often skill building is provided to help teach life and symptom management
  • leading behavioral health groups
  • providing mental health assessments for new program clients
  • developing an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with each client
  • provides case management, such as assisting clients with completion of benefits paperwork or securing housing, monitoring of protective payee agreement, and connecting to community resources
  • monitoring client symptoms, medication responses and daily living activities
  • completing all required clinical documentation in a timely and client-centered manner
 
Position Requirements

Education/Experience: Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field

Professional Credentials: Eligible for Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.

Other Credentials Required: Driver's License, Vehicle Liability Insurance
