Based out of Ogden, Utah American Nutrition has 4 plants across the US. Ogden, Utah is 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City. The area is in the heart of snow skiing, hiking and other outdoor recreational activity while being near a major city.

Description

Job Description: The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures while ensuring that the work is in accordance with the NEC. The Electrician will support operations by maintaining the operation of machinery and equipment, as well as troubleshooting equipment to keep production running.

Essential Tasks:

  • Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots plant issues pertaining to PLC and control logic.
  • Be responsible for the scheduling of planned and unplanned electrical maintenance and electrical projects.
  • Must possess a thorough working knowledge of plant automation and electrical systems such as: Allen Bradley Processors, Ethernet, VFD, and power distribution.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning Apparatus and replace damaged wires and cables.
  • Connects power supply wires to and between machine and equipment.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors and position sensing devices.
  • Comply with safety standards and procedures.
    Work closely with Operations to ensure that the plant runs efficiently.
  • Promote continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct on-call duties as needed.
  • Complete light mechanical maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Serve as an excellent Company ambassador and safety champion at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Skills and Requirements:

  • 1-3 years’ electrical experience and working on machinery
  • Must have GED equivalent or High School diploma and be 18 years old or older.
  • Completion of an accredited apprentice program is strongly preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of PLC, Device Net, and inverter drives.
  • Must be able to understand and work with high voltage, 12470 volt 3 phase 480/277 volt 3 phase 208/120 Hydraulic and pneumatic experience helpful; skilled use of power tools.
  • Direct work experience with manufacturing equipment is essential.
  • Basic math and reading skills, able to read and follow blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Must be able to understand and follow work instructions in English. Must be self-motivated and have a customer service attitude.
  • Willing to work as a team player to solve problems, contribute ideas and make continuous improvements to the way work is done.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background test required.
  • Random drug screens and compliance with all company policies is required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Work Environment:

  • Job is performed in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work in a schedule-driven 12 hour rotating shift environment.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be necessary as workloads dictate.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
  • Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices, including wearing hair nets, uniforms and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment apply.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to climb ladders, work from scissor lifts or otherwise work at heights of 6 feet to 65 feet above ground, stand for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs, and walk plant floors that could exceed one mile of travel per day.
  • The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of legs, arms, hands, fingers, to feel objects, and use power tools, including bending, reaching, kneeling and crouching; have command of all five senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste).
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens to close forms.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds with regularity.
