Job Summary

This position ensures all facilities, equipment and product is installed, maintained, and operated such that they perform the function they were designed to perform with the highest degree of reliability achievable.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

Identify, develops and implements initiatives to improve all equipment reliability and performance of tank farm assets, equipment and rolling stock. Analyze equipment and performance to assess reliability, maintainability and availability and ensure continuous improvement.

Establish and monitor metrics to ensure that a comprehensive and effective maintenance and reliability program is in place.

Ensures procedures to track tank inspections and mechanical integrity (vessels, piping, pumps, equipment).

Reviews capital spending with President and makes capital spending recommendations and budget. Works directly with Terminal Managers to provide project management and support services for major capital projects and procurement of rolling stock.

Will serve as a member of the Anchorage based leadership team; providing collaborative support to each of the DWP Terminal managers and sites.

Reviews contract documents for compliance with design codes and standards, design criteria and policies and procedures; and substantiates contractor invoices

Supports development of safety, security, facilities and quality assurance standards.

Supervision: Directly supervises approximately 5 employees. Indirectly supervises approximately 10 employees. Plans, assigns and directs work in line with the goals and strategy of DWP. Appraises the performance of direct reports based on operational metrics and goals.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years’ experience, preferably in the petroleum industry, or a combination of education and experience.

Certificates/Licenses: Alaska Driver’s License and TWIC

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills: An individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word. Microsoft Project experience a plus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of the Job, the employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places; fumes, dirt, dust or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environmental is generally moderate.

Other Skills: Independently travel to a variety of customer locations or facilities via air or car. Ability to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Ability to operate a 2-way radio system.
