Position Requirements

Ideal candidate is flexible, energetic, and able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be able to regularly lift and bend when working with maintenance tools; repetitively lift and carry up to 50 pounds short distances unassisted; lift up to 25 pounds above the head unassisted; lift and carry up to 75 pounds short distances with some assistance; and be comfortable with heights, as this position requires the use of and working from lifts and ladders. A minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in a service environment and/or experience in HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing fields preferred. Computer experience in Windows and building management systems desired.


OBJECTIVE: Support COSI's mission by providing a safe, clean, comfortable, and healthy environment for COSI guests and team. Perform continuous ongoing maintenance and inspections throughout COSI.


  1. Perform continuous ongoing inspections throughout COSI to ensure facility maintenance quality assurance standards are adhered to on a daily basis.
  2. Conduct facility maintenance services in a manner consistent with COSI's guest and team services strategy.
  3. Provide operational coverage for full- and part-time Facility Maintenance team member absences.
  4. Provide front-line operational interface with facility maintenance contracted vendors as directed by the Manager of Facilities Operations.
  5. Provide immediate response, service, and repair for facility maintenance emergencies including: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, flooring, and structural finishes.
  6. Work in conjunction with the Manager of Facilities Operations to provide monitoring, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs and services for building systems including: HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  7. Assist the Grounds Maintenance Team on an as needed basis.
  8. Assist the Support Services Team on an as needed basis.
  9. Maintain a preventive maintenance program for facility maintenance structural care and facility maintenance equipment as directed by the Manager of Facilities Operations.
  10. Maintain the supply inventory in accordance with the facility maintenance budget as directed by the Manager of Facilities Operations.
  11. Assist with the development, implementation, and team training of a proactive facility maintenance safety program.
  12. Assist with the development and implementation of a team training and development program.
  13. Assist with the development and implementation of a facility maintenance quality control program.
  14. Actively participate in all pertinent COSI meetings and functions.
  15. Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings as appropriate.
  16. Serve as an example to other COSI team members and volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and volunteer team members and guests.
  17. In accordance with COSI's Guest Services Strategy and as opportunities present themselves; provide excellence in guest services by assuring guest safety, using courtesy to drive each guest interaction, by delivering the COSI show, and by keeping operations efficient.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Facilities Operations.
