ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
„h Assist in all legal aspects of Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures, including contract law, employment law, Band law, real estate, benefits and insurance law.
„h Responsible for legal advice concerning business and economic development issues.
„h Provides legal support to Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures, including the areas of business development, marketing and administration. Includes drafting and assisting in contract negotiations as they arise.
„h Reviews and gives advice regarding Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures contracts and business proposals.
„h Responsible for legal support regarding employee benefit plans, including the areas of communication, administration, plan design and compliance.
„h Work with in-house and outside counsel on specialized and more complicated projects and issues.
„h As directed, work with tribal government counsel and Solicitor General to draft and amend appropriate Band law regarding the Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures and business ventures.
„h Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the company mission, vision and values.
„h Displays a high level of maturity, discretion, tact, judgment and the ability to deal with confidential matters.
„h Develops annual departmental budget(s) and held accountable, to the highest degree, for the control, accuracy and thoroughness of all expenses, records and reports.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
„h Manage staff members as defined by the organizational structure by providing guidance and leadership for the department.
„h Hire, train, coach and develop associates by utilizing all available resources for development opportunities.
„h Supervises various associates as assigned by the Vice President of Human Resources.
