Principal Level Engineer

Terraphase Engineering is looking for a qualified candidate to join our team as a Principal Level Engineer or Scientist to join our team in the Reno/Sparks NV area.

The Role

  • Managing existing multi-year contracts and client relationships
  • Achieve business financial targets
  • Build relationships with clients that result in sustained growth
  • Project management (Principal/Project Director role)
  • Oversee technical quality, budgets, and human capital
  • Act as Senior Project Director/Technical Expert on regional projects
  • Identify and implement growth strategies for clients
  • Lead and develop business opportunities with new and existing clients
  • Stay abreast of local and national regulations and advise staff and clients on new opportunities
  • Develop and manage budgets
  • Communicate effectively with clients and staff
  • Cultivate a culture of business development and marketing
  • Prepare project cost proposals and other deliverables
  • Respond to RFP’s
  • Promote cross-selling
  • Nurture backlog of clientele
  • Collaborate with other offices to foster growth.


  • 10+ years’ experience with a B.S. in environmental, civil or geological engineering or physical science required; M.S. Degree preferred
  • Professional registration in Nevada, i.e. Professional Engineer and/or Certified Environmental Manager
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities
  • Established knowledge of the consulting field preferred, with geographic knowledge of clientele
  • Ability to produce high-quality products on schedule and within budgets
  • Prior project management experience, business development skills, experience with state and federal environmental regulations/agencies, and a strong relationship with industrial and commercial clients are required.
  • Experience directing surface and subsurface site investigations, evaluating physical and chemical data, and environmental remediation at a variety of industrial/brownfield sites and legacy mining operations.
  • Strong knowledge or State and Federal environmental regulations pertaining to contaminated lands.
