Business Account Executive FT First Shift: Cover letter & Resume required

Responsible for successfully selling Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures as a full service resort and entertainment destination to identified business segments. Achieve objectives regarding revenue/profitability. Build long lasting and mutually beneficial business, community and charitable partnerships through community involvement and investment to enhance the Grand Casino brand.

Implements sales/ marketing strategies and objectives for group business retention to achieve optimum occupancy, paying special attention during peak and off seasons.

Prospects for new and repeat business, through telemarketing, correspondence and/or personal contact.

Manages accounts of clients, including but not limited to the following:

Selling and coordinating hotel, marina, meeting and convention space.

Providing promotion expertise and collateral material

Organizing promotional events to highlight Grand Casino properties.

Maintaining face-to-face, phone, and direct mail contact.

Ensuring special needs and requests are met with pre-event meetings.

Processing necessary paperwork and payments in a timely manner.

Meets objectives for annual sales goals set by management.

Provides assistance to management in developing annual convention sales budget while ensuring maximum utilization of budget including monitoring expenses and preparing monthly budget reports.

Work closely with internal departments to coordinate convention sales, hotel and other internal/external special events.

Maintains timely conversion with all sales leads.

Travels to areas where there is potential group business and sponsorship opportunities, developing the territory as thoroughly as possible.

Coordinate and solicit sponsorship/partnership opportunities to enhance and strengthen the Grand Casino brand and promote casino visits.

Negotiates client contracts, generates correspondence, proposals, reports and other miscellaneous paperwork.

Orders and follows up on coupons, checks, sponsorship fees and all necessary event and promotional material as needed.

Conducts hotel tours and entertains qualified potential clients, in accordance with company policies and practices.

Introduce Guest surveys to clients for feedback and possible future and referral business.

Oversees the processing of reservations and advance registration payments for each group booked.

Attends trade shows, as requested; participates in Convention and Visitors Bureau sales and marketing events.

Maintains memberships and participates in meeting planner organizations, chambers and other civic organizations to promote sales leads.

Decipher, analyze and implement the best course of action with regards to casino donations and process accordingly.

Any and all other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements


Three (3) years of convention sales experience with a property that has 5,000 square feet of convention space and at least 200 rooms; or, two (2) year degree in marketing, sales or hotel management; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience required.


If required, must be able to pass company pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.

Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority, and follow all relevant DGR’s.

Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.


Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.

Must be able to comprehend instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.

Must be able to listen and willing to ask questions.


Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.


Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to a variety of situations, in order to collect data, analyze facts and determine appropriate response.


While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to:

Talk and hear;

See and adjust focus to include close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral vision;

Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch and/or crawl;

Handle objects, tools and controls; reach with arms and hands;

Lift, push, pull and/or move objects weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds.


While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly exposed to:

A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).

A moderate-to-loud noise level (operations areas).

Second-hand cigarette / cigar smoke.
