Position Requirements

Ideal candidate enjoys being around children; working in a busy setting; is dependable, on-time, and follows the assigned schedule; and has reliable transportation. The ability to maintain friendly, helpful, and safety conscious attitude toward all Guests is required. A strong cleaning and building safety awareness ability; attention to detail; initiative to work with minimal supervision; and be responsible for the timely completion of assigned tasks essential. Must be familiar with cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment; and be able to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted. Ability to work on an 8 foot ladder. Ability to work on a 25 foot scissors lift. Some experience required, one example might be: closing crew duties in a fast food restaurant.

 
Description

OBJECTIVE: Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of existing exhibits and building.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

  1. Cleaning and maintenance of museum exhibits and building, including:
      • Clean glass and finish surfaces of building and exhibits as assigned.
      • Floor care - vacuuming carpet, sweeping, mopping, and buffing vinyl-tiled floors.
      • Complete restroom cleaning.
      • Clean all interior stairways.
      • Empty waste receptacles.
  2. Set up tables and chairs for special programs and facility rentals.
  3. Maintain a helpful and safety conscious attitude towards all Guests.
  4. Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings as appropriate.
  5. Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members and Volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and Volunteer Team Members and Guests.
  6. In accordance with COSI's Guest Services Strategy, and as opportunities present themselves, provide excellence in Guest Services by assuring Guest safety, using courtesy to drive each Guest interaction, by delivering the COSI show, and by keeping operations efficient.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Support Service Supervisor(s) and/or the Senior Director of Facilities and Operations.
