Position Software Configuration Management Specialist - Journeyman  
Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring that a high level of quality is maintained. Duties include determining the resources required for quality control, establishing and maintaining a process for evaluating software and associated documentation at pre-determined points in the life cycle, and providing daily supervision and direction to support staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide configuration management support to ULLS-A(E) IAW Government policies and procedures established in AR 25-1, Army Information Technology; AR 25-2, Information Assurance; MIL-HDBK-61A (SE), Configuration Management Guidance and the best commercial practices for configuration management written by the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Standard 828-2012 (IEEE Std. 828-2012) for Software Configuration Management Plans.
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Seeing, hearing, speaking, walking, sitting, climbing, repetitive arm and finger motions, maybe required to lift (up to 25 lbs.), push pull and stand. Must be able sit for prolonged periods of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Individual must maintain a safe work environment. Individual must be aware of security measures involving computer and document security, and other measures associated with working in a facility that utilizes security measures and precautions.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have or be eligible to obtain IT-III personnel security standard.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a bachelor’s degree (an additional two years of specialized experience may be substituted for the required bachelor’s degree) and ten years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, configuration management, software testing, application of metrics to software quality assessment, and team leader responsibilities. Proven experience in monitoring and maintaining program planning, development and testing schedules, files and software programs and software licensing management for a DoD Automated Information System and proven experience in using Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
