Description

SUMMARY: Writes materials, design graphics and layout, and creates training manuals. Edits technical materials for clarity, punctuation, grammar, and content.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collects and analyzes applicable technical documentation.
  • Organizes material and writes descriptive copy according to established standards regarding order, clarity, brevity, style, and terminology.
  • Reviews published material and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, methods of reproduction and binding.
  • May select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
  • May assist in laying out material for publication.
  • Uses automated tools, including computer terminal and word processing or desktop publishing software in performing assigned duties.
  • May coordinate the production and distribution of material.
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Seeing, hearing, speaking, walking, sitting, climbing, repetitive arm and finger motions, maybe required to lift (up to 25 lbs.), push pull and stand. Must be able sit for prolonged periods of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Individual must maintain a safe work environment. Individual must be aware of security measures involving computer and document security, and other measures associated with working in a facility that utilizes security measures and precautions.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have or be eligible to obtain IT-III personnel security standard.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: At least five years of specialized experience and a bachelor’s degree (an additional two years of specialized experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree). Specialized experience required includes writing or editing technical documents using applicable Government and/or industry standards and proven experience with Microsoft Office applications to include Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word.
