Position Software Developer - Journeyman  
Description

SUMMARY: Design and create computer software programs and systems. Apply the principles of engineering, analytics, and computer science toward the development and testing of all kinds of software and applications. Helps create and test software from start to finish. Analyze user requests and requirements, then research and brainstorm practical solutions. Duties may include designing, programming, documenting, implementing, and maintaining software applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May be responsible for supervising the work of junior programmers.
  • Perform software sustainment/development and provide baseline software break-fixes by performing software/data analysis, design, coding, and testing using current technology, and provide functional/technical design documents for Government acceptance.
  • Will perform analysis, development, documentation, implementation, and testing support necessary to interface with other systems identified by the DoD/DA.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and maintain system interface agreements with trading partners.
  • Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Seeing, hearing, speaking, walking, sitting, climbing, repetitive arm and finger motions, maybe required to lift (up to 25 lbs.), push pull and stand. Must be able sit for prolonged periods of time

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Individual must maintain a safe work environment. Individual must be aware of security measures involving computer and document security, and other measures associated with working in a facility that utilizes security measures and precautions.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must have or be eligible to obtain shall possess or be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance and IT-II personnel security standard. Must possess IAT-I 8570 Baseline Certification at time of hire.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree and five years proven experience with Windows Server OS, SQL Server Database management and performing technical documentation and/or operational system test and evaluation functions directly related to DoD Automated Information System; or 10 years of proven experience in performing the foregoing functions.

  • Knowledge of FORTRAN, COBOL, C, Fourth Generation Languages (4GL), CASE tools, systems programming, C++, Smalltalk, and other object oriented programming languages is highly desirable.
