Description

The Planner oversees the status of open orders and originates correspondence following established procedures to assure compliance with commitments and scheduled needs. Assists with production schedules and work order distribution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Manages cycle count process according to procedures and participates in inventory control and adjustments, and cycle counts as needed.
  • Manage inventory space planning in coordination with materials manager.
  • Maintains planning data in Grand Rapids Chair planning system.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to established manufacturing. manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Resolves PO receipt discrepancies.
  • Draws up production schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet in stock dates as determined by the inventory stocking plan.
  • Confers with department supervisors to determine status of the current schedule and optimization of the upcoming schedule and close orders as needed.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedule to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Manages reporting functions through the ERP system as requested.
  • Works closely with Supply Chain Manager and Engineering during Engineering Change Process in order to coordinate release dates while minimizing excess / obsolete materials
  • Key participant in reducing cycle time of order input, sales acknowledgement and shop floor job release processes; works closely with manufacturing team and customer service to promote efficient communication and information exchange
  • Major contributor to cost reduction opportunities in large jobs – closely monitors job sizes and works closely with customer service manager, materials manager and manufacturing manager to change job methods if alternative methods are known to reduce costs
  • Utilized standard procedures for the preparation of labor planning documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Associates Degree or Technical Certification or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • One-year experience in planning, scheduling, or related position in manufacturing environment.
  • Two years of college or related professional training.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Multi-tasking skills: ability to work on a number of deadline driven tasks simultaneously with a sense of urgency.
  • Flexibility to work in a changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
