Working within the Autism Research Centre and alongside an interdisciplinary research team, you will coordinate a large multi-site grant with a mandate for research in pediatric neurodevelopmental disorders - including Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Intellectual Disability (ID), and related neurodevelopmental disorders. The grant encompasses separate yet integrated projects in phenotyping, genotyping, neuroimaging, animal models, epigenetics, and pharmacology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between the project’s executive committee, steering committee, numerous co-investigators, and staff at all clinical & research sites
  • On behalf of the Principal Investigator (PI), organize and lead team meetings across platforms/projects with goals ranging from personnel training to database development to refining the phenotyping battery, etc.
  • Organize with the help of the other site RA/RCs all events related to science days, PAC meetings, PAC events, Family Days, etc.
  • Monitor progress and ensure the meeting of project milestones across individual studies and sites
  • Contribute to the preparation of required reports (including milestones, budgets, annual reports) and knowledge translation projects (e.g. presentations, manuscripts, stakeholder progress reports)
  • At the Holland Bloorview site: manage the research ethics board application, sub-contracts, and budget as well as supervise the staff contributing to the grant
  • Across sites coordinate and facilitate research ethics submissions for phenotyping and any other platform running across sites (e.g., ensure REB applications and protocols are consistent across sites)
  • Ensure research is conducted in compliance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement, Good Clinical Practice, and Health Canada regulations as applicable

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in a health-related field or a degree/diploma in project management
  • Experience working with children with ASD and/or developmental disabilities would be a strong asset
  • At least three years of research experience required (more than five years preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of research practice, procedures, regulations, and research ethics board applications
  • Demonstrated success in managing project timelines and sub-contracts
  • Demonstrated success and understanding of managing finances and budgets for projects
  • Demonstrated leadership skills:
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to take a leadership role as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to organize and facilitate the productivity of investigators and staff
  • Exceptional organizational skills:
  • Superior attention to detail and quality of work
  • Works well under pressure, can prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Professional and friendly demeanour
  • Ability to work flexible hours as necessary
