Description

The primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse is to ensure that the Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) meets the optimum standards of care and safety. Under the direction of the SHWC Director (Nurse Practitioner), the Registered Nurse assists in training all full- and part-time nurses; provides professional nursing care to George School students; acts as a liaison to the Director and the Consulting Physician. In consultation with the Director; s/he administers all policies, procedures, and clinical protocols for the Student Health and Wellness Center. Along with the Director and Consulting Physician, assists in implementing new policies and protocols; collecting and maintaining up-to-date health forms and student information; and assisting with registration as it relates to health services.

The Registered Nurse must be able to work independently and have excellent communication skills when interacting with students, parents, Dean's office, athletic staff and all community members. This position is Sunday through Thursday, 11:00pm to 7:00am with a unique opportunity to live on campus within the Quaker school community.

 
Position Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and National Board Certification as a Registered Nurse required

  • Five years’ experience working with a diverse adolescent population, preferably in an independent boarding or day school setting.

  • Demonstrate knowledge in such areas as drug and alcohol prevention, psychopharmacology, preventative health care, emergency medical procedures, ethics and decision making.

  • Commitment to diversity and a demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse student and adult population..

  • Competency with basic word processing, spreadsheet applications, Internet, and email.

  • Ability to traverse the campus to reach students in emergencies.

  • Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds.
