Program Statement:

At St. Martin de Porres Family Center, we provide an array of services for early childhood, older adults, after-school programming, food pantry, home-delivered meals, and emergency assistance. St. Martin de Porres is located in the heart of the Glenville community and takes pride in meeting the needs of the residence we serve through service coordination and empowering them to be self sufficient.

Job Summary:

Catholic Charities, is in search of a Bookkeeper to work in our main office's finance department. The Bookkeeper is responsible for various budgeting and bookkeeping work, and related clerical duties, of a confidential nature. This position will maintain files and records in accordance with an established system. It will collect all deposits and payment requests (from several sites), review, collate and total for proper processing. The Bookkeeper will process accounts payable and receivable; verify deposits, and prepare invoices.

Position Requirements
  • Combination of education and experience normally represented by an Associate’s Degree or equivalent and 3-5 years of related work experience; working knowledge of accounting principles required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to work with diverse client populations, community organizations, as well as staff at all levels.  
  • Must have a good working knowledge of database and spreadsheet applications. 
  • Reliability and accuracy of output from assigned responsibilities is imperative.
  • Advanced computer experience necessary, especially Microsoft Office, Windows and database management systems. 
  • Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and organize work in a neat, logical and well documented manner for self and others.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, strong detail orientation and the ability to maintain confidentiality. 
  • Knowledge of community resources preferred. 
  • Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
