As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you are an entry level engineer who, with oversight and assistance from other more senior engineers, will be responsible for performing structural analysis, designing task and modeling assignments for a variety of building types, sizes, and materials as well as the delivery of portions of project work ranging from conceptual design to final construction documentation.


Project Quality

  • Understand the overall design intent of the project and the importance of incorporating it into the detailed documentation. Bring design thinking to the process of producing contract documents.
  • Work on multiple project types and delivery methods. Prepare building models and detailed contract documents. Work closely with team members in the completion of projects on aggressive schedules.
  • Some responsibility for technical coordination of projects with other internal disciplines and outside consultants.
  • Develop project specifications in coordination with drawings. Provide design analysis consistent with Progressive AE standards. Provide control strategies for project budget overruns.
  • Perform all work in a clear, complete, and accurate manner. Carefully review work for accuracy before submitting to others for final review.
  • Regularly communicate with the Senior Structural Engineer to understand any changes to project design, scope, schedule and budget. Alert the Senior Structural Engineer when a change in scope of work changes.
  • Coordinate use and track shared electronic documentation and files with internal and external project team members including clients, contractors and consultants.
  • Use design software/technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, and other emerging technologies for presentation and production purposes.
  • Act as an ambassador for company-wide values and ethical standards of practice.
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings and activities including ‘Lessons Learned’ sessions.


  • Produce contract documents that are efficient and consistent with the scope of work, schedule, and fee allotted to complete the work.
  • Alert the Senior Structural Engineer when inconsistencies occur as they relate to design and documentation.

Position Requirements


  • Your Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or equivalent in education and experience required for professional licensure.
  • Your Licensure: Engineering In Training (passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam) preferred (or required within 6 months.) CSI-CDT preferred (or willingness to complete within 1 year).
  • Your Knowledge and Experience:
    • Minimum 0 years of post-graduate structural engineering experience.
    • Knowledge of the structural engineering and documentation process. Experience performing structural analysis and designing task and modeling assignments for various project building types, sizes and materials as well as the delivery portions of project work ranging from conception design to final construction documentation preferred.
    • Knowledge of quality assurance/quality control processes.
    • Ability to produce construction drawings and specifications. Knowledge of building codes and structural standards and regulations, and the ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, teamwork, design, project management and coordination skills as demonstrated through your competencies.
  • Your Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD required. Experience using RISA or RAM Elements preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
