Description

We are seeking a Research Coordinator with experience working with children with disabilities in a fast-paced research environment. As a Research Coordinor within the PRISM Lab, the successful candidate will be required to work alongside an interdisciplinary research team in the field of childhood disability. The Research Coordinator will also participate in Bloorview Research Institute (BRI) related events, committees and meetings.

Strong critical appraisal skills, effective communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills as well as excellent organization, record keeping, time management, and priority setting skills are critical to the success of this position.

The successful candidate will be a member of an industry-partnered health technology implementation team. The Research Coordinator will also be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of research ethic protocols, coordinating participant schedules and data collection in participant homes, data management, organization and documentation of bi-monthly team meetings, and liaising with the industry partner.

The Research Coordinator will work directly with children and youth participants and will be expected to conduct research offisite at paricipants' homes and schools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to preparation of reports, presentations and manuscripts
  • Recruit for study and provide information and documentation for potential participants (consents, client eligibility items, required pre-study testing, roadmaps)
  • Initiate and maintain research files that will include original consent, documentation, general correspondence, and data collection forms
  • Perform participant interviews, assessments and data collection as required by study protocols
  • Co-supervise (with PI) trainees and volunteers

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Health Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Previous research experience
  • Strong technical skill set: desktop hardware, telephone and video conferencing, digital cameras, video cameras, and audio-recording devices
  • Troubleshooting skills/experience
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Internet and MEDLINE Searches)
  • Good understanding of TCPS 2 and Responsible Conduct of Research
  • Familiar with literature databases (e.g. PubMed, MEDLINE)
  • Experience following REB approved protocols and ensuring the timely completion and submission of relevant ethics documentation (amendment requests, annual renewals)
