Description

The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is the premier credentialing organization for professional counselors, transforming how the world discovers and views counseling.

We are looking for an senior director of public relations. The senior director of public relations is responsible for development, implementation and oversight of the NBCC and Affiliates communications and marketing strategies.

Our ideal candidate has a minimum of six years experience in a public relations or communications role and able to develop and refine NBCC and Affiliates core messages and images to ensure positive organizational brand consistency.

Essential Functions

  • Identify significant media, market, and public policy issues that can be leveraged to support NBCC and Affiliates' work.
  • Produce work plans and content calendars to guide and document strategy implementation.
  • Supervise, facilitate, and delegate the work of the communications and marketing related staff across the affiliates while implementing project management and change management frameworks.
  • Develop and refine NBCC and Affiliates core messages and images to ensure positive organizational brand consistency.
  • Facilitate organizational response to inquiries and comments about NBCC and Affiliates.
  • Drive media relations strategy and execution
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to maintain timely crisis communications procedures.
  • Collaborate with executive staff for company s social strategy and execution
  • Train key NBCC and Affiliates staff in core messages and incidental talking points.
  • Serve as executive editor for all affiliate websites, social media, and other external communications.
  • Ensure implementation of approved style guides, editing protocol, review and release procedures.
  • Participate in organizational planning to gain/maintain understanding of institutional history and program needs.
  • Organize and document promotional events, tours, visits, and conference exhibits.
  • Create presentations, articles, reports, and information for websites, blogs, and social media accounts.
  • Submit activity and impact reports as requested by senior management.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise assigned staff.
