Pay Rate $37,000-$48,000/yr.  
Description

SUMMARY
The Graphic Designer creates and recommends design solutions throughout all marketing collateral for the Venues Parks and Arts Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Supports the Marketing Director with marketing, brainstorming, and advertising strategies; provides insight on design-related projects that could assist with boosting promotion.
• Provides marketing materials with conceptual development, design development, and implementation of design publications, website, advertising (print and digital), video, social, signage, interactive and events.
• Interprets staff needs and develops concept to suit their purpose.
• Delivers creative solutions that strengthen and differentiate the department from others in the same market.
• Meets deadlines by providing time for multiple drafts for review
• Understands graphic design standards, production methods, and costs for products/processes utilized in marketing.
• Proactively contributes suggestions and ideas for design projects that will add value to the Department.
• Contributes to strategic planning and overall direction of the Department; provides insights and recommends new ideas for improvement.
• Keeps abreast of emerging technologies in new media, particularly design programs; reviews professional publications; participates in networking opportunities.
• Positively promotes the image of the City of South Bend and Venues Parks and Arts; ensures brand consistency throughout Venues Parks and Arts.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree required.
• Background in print and digital production, web maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Ability to compile, review, classify, prioritize, and analyze data.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently.
• A strong proficiency of standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess valid driver’s license.

EQUIPMENT
Computers; Telephones; Photocopiers; Other office machines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an open, creative office space that fosters collaboration, promotes innovation and allows efficient exchanges of information. Work space will consist of open offices and meeting spaces that encourage interaction and group work. Entire office is smoke free.
