About the Organization KMHS is Kitsap's nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. During 2016, KMHS provided services to more than 6,800 children and adults.

Inpatient, residential, and outpatient treatment services offer evidence-based treatment, using trauma informed care to help people reach their recovery goals. We offer whole person care through mental health and substance use treatment and care management, close care coordination with on-campus and community-based primary care providers, and with partner PCHS, now offer dental care to KMHS clients and the community. Many community partners assure people receive behavioral health care in the right place, in the right way, at the right time. Together we are weaving a web that connects emergency room and hospitals, substance abuse treatment, and primary care providers; creates partnerships for early intervention at home and school, supports multiple law enforcement, jail, and justice endeavors, and works to ensure housing, food, and other social supports together with social service agencies and community collaborations.

Location Kitsap Mental Health Services (Sheridan Campus)  

Provide therapy services for children and adolescents in collaboration with the parents or guardians caring for them.


  • Provide effective and efficient clinical services, using best practice standards, to eligible children and families within a managed care environment.
  • Complete and maintain all required appropriate clinical and administrative records in a timely manner, using Collaborative Documentation when appropriate.
  • Provide outreach services, as clinically indicated, to clients and their parents/guardians.
  • Conduct groups for target populations within identified service populations.
  • Collaborate with schools, social service agencies and other providers to ensure continuity and quality of care. Build ITCP teams utilizing natural supports as clinically indicated.
  • Participate in the implementation of administrative and clinical policies of KMHS as appropriate.
  • Function as a supportive member of the program team and participate constructively in problem solving.
  • Provide consultation, education and training for KMHS staff and other agencies or individuals regarding clinical issues.
  • Provide crisis intervention services when necessary.
  • Actively participate in supervision and training via consultation, co-therapy, live and video taped sessions or reflecting teams.
  • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.
Position Requirements

Master’s degree in Social Work, counseling/psychology or related field required. Two years experience working with children and families preferred. Child Mental Health Specialist and Washington License (LICSW, LMFT or LMHC) preferred. Possess and maintain valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.

* All employees that drive personal vehicles for daily job functions must provide proof of auto liability insurance of a 100/300 policy upon the first day of employment, maintain required coverage amounts and provide ongoing documentation of continuous coverage.
