YOUR ROLE:

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you are an entry level engineer responsible for working with the Mechanical Project Engineer in the design of mechanical systems for various project building types, including load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork sizing, design of hydronic systems and coordinating this information with the project design.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Project Quality

  • Bring design thinking to the process of producing contract documents.
  • Prepare building models and detailed contract documents.
  • Coordinate technical components of projects with other internal disciplines and outside consultants.
  • Develop project specifications in coordination with drawings.
  • Provide design analysis consistent with Progressive AE standards.
  • Provide control strategies for project budget overruns.
  • Alert the Senior Mechanical Engineer when a change in scope of work changes.
  • Coordinate use and track shared electronic documentation and files with internal and external project team members including clients, contractors and consultants.
  • Use design software/technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, BSD Spec Link and other emerging technologies for presentation and production purposes.
  • Act as an ambassador for company-wide values and ethical standards of practice.
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings and activities including ‘Lessons Learned' sessions.

Financial

  • Produce contract documents that are efficient and consistent with the scope of work, schedule and fee allotted to complete the work.
  • Alert the Senior Mechanical Engineer when inconsistencies occur as they relate to design and documentation.

  • Exhibit a level of comfort and confidence with client representatives regarding area of expertise.
  • Maintain a positive relationship of trust with Client Leadership regarding area of expertise.
  • Embrace the iterative nature of the design process and execute work in a timely manner.
 
Position Requirements

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSME or BSAS with specialty in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent in education. Passed Fundamentals of Engineering exam (or in process) preferred.
  • Minimum of 0 – 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD, required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and integrate work effectively with designers, engineers, construction administrators, consultants and any other members of the project team.
  • Ability to produce construction drawings and specifications. Knowledge of building codes and regulations, and the ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance/quality control processes.
  • Ability to communicate professionally to people both internally and externally within all levels of the organization(s) they represent.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working under pressure in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
