We are specifically interested in economists whose research is related to labor economics, with special consideration for individuals who possess knowledge and research experience in labor markets, wage and employment policy, worker safety and protection, disability insurance, and unemployment insurance.

  • Communicating and collaborating with senior economists and analysts as well as 2M leadership
  • Identifying and implementing research designs and empirical approaches
  • Managing and analyzing large-scale data files for research
  • Applying appropriate quantitative techniques to collect and analyze data
  • Preparing technical reports and presenting findings to clients
  • Assisting in developing and drafting new research proposals
  • Mentoring research assistants, sharing approaches to solving concrete problems, and providing feedback on the work of others
  • Managing or leading projects or tasks, with assumption of greater responsibility over time
  • Serving as client contact for analytical or statistical expertise

Required Qualifications

  • PhD (or other advanced degree) in economics
  • Research work related to labor markets, wage and employment policy, worker safety and protection, disability insurance, and/or unemployment insurance
  • Knowledge or experience with the construction and analysis of large-scale datasets and the design of experiments and quasi-experiments
  • Prior quantitative research on policy-relevant topics using advanced methods, such as fixed effects, regression discontinuity, or instrumental variables
  • Ability to apply advanced statistical methods and communicate effectively about these methods to non-technical audiences
  • Highly proficient in Stata, SAS, or R and open to learning new statistical tools as required by different projects; experience with GIS or other mapping tools is a plus
