Under the general supervision of Department of Public Safety Management, the Public Safety Officer, provides the highest level of public safety service by preventing crime and ensuring the protection of life, property, and assets through engagement and enforcement of applicable policies, laws and ordinances. The Public Safety Officer must possess the ability to balance service while protecting the interest and assets of the Tribe.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
90% Assigned to stationary or patrol duties in the casino or reservation. Responds to calls for service and emergencies from internal and external departments or individuals. Speaks clearly on the phone and radio. Preforms pro-active, self-initiated activity to mitigate risks, reduce crime, and enforce policies, laws and procedures. Conducts investigations, make arrests, and excludes individuals for violations of policy, laws or business needs. Prepares reports of criminal and non-criminal incidents. Handle evidence, property and other valuable assets. Assist with table game chip fills, ATM/TRM’s and drops. Inspect vendors, visitor, guest and employee’s bags, backpacks, purses, boxes or other conveyance capable of concealing property. Responds to medical emergencies and render appropriate aid. Verifies age of persons on casino property to prevent underage incidents. Enforce gaming regulations in accordance with federal, state, and internal controls. Public Safety Officer is required to maintain strict confidentiality of all matters related to the casino and Tribe. Must maintain grooming standards established by Department of Public Safety (DPS) polices to include no beards, visible piercings and inappropriate tattoos.
10% Based on business needs will be called to perform other public safety duties, respond to emergency situations, and work voluntary, extended shift or mandatory overtime. Must be able to work closely with law enforcement and other emergency responders.
A minimum of 1-year of current security work experience and/or police or military service.
Casino experience is highly preferred.

BSIS Security Guard Card (At All Times) BSIS Pepper Spray/Foam certification
Expandable Baton certification CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Augustine Gaming License (Required) Title 31/AML training certification
Valid California Driver’s License/Insurable driving record.
