The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), based in Greensboro, North Carolina, is the premier credentialing organization for professional counselors, transforming how the world discovers and views counseling.

We are looking for an psychometrician. The pyschometrician oversees the development, delivery, and maintenance of standardized examinations and all related assessment activities. The developer must manage all processes and tasks of testing program, to include item development and review, and dissemination and maintenance of examinations.

Our ideal candidate has at one to two years' professional experience developing, delivering, and managing standardized testing. The candidate also has excellent knowledge of basic statistical theory and testing administration practices.

Essential Functions

The following duties and responsibilities are a summary of the essential functions of the job. Other duties might be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities could change periodically.

  1. Manages and promotes testing programs to highest quality and standard to ensure examinations are consistent with CCE vision and mission.
  2. Maintains testing program database (item bank), generates and interprets reports.
  3. Assists in the development and management of organization's printed and electronic examinations.
  4. Develops and maintains examinations using test frameworks and related software.
  5. Monitors and audits all aspects of testing program processes.
  6. Assists with the preparation of statistical reports related to testing program.
  7. Plans, coordinates, and performs statistical analysis on all new and existing assessments.
  8. Continually manages established testing program expectations with team members, stakeholders, and management for monitoring examination progress to include contract management.
  9. Facilitates examination committee meetings.
  10. Assists in the preparation of Responses for Proposals (RFPs).
  11. Maintains and updates assessment skills.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
