TRAINING FOR DRIVERS NEEDED IN THE FRESNO COUNTY AREA

NEW CLASSES Start Evey 6 - 8 Weeks

SUMMARY

To learn the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully pass DMV written exam and skill test

Assists in the fulfillment of the agency’s vision, “For Those We Serve,” by empowering individuals to thrive as healthy, self-sufficient and contributing members of our communities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Will report for training at the scheduled times throughout the training period

  • Will comply with all regulations of the training including safety regulations

  • Will follow all rules and regulations, and other standard requirements of Fresno EOC

  • Will perform to the best of his/her ability those tasks assigned by the Training Supervisor which are related to the training progra

What to expect in this Free Driver Training Class:

  • Classroom study and Behind-the-Wheel training is performed by a State Certified School
  • Bus Classroom Instructor. Materials and instructions will follow the State of California
  • Commercial Drivers Handbook and Passenger Endorsement regulations.

Trainees will be required to obtain and pay for these documents:

  1. Acceptable DMV Driver “H6” 10 year driving history ($5).
  2. Fingerprint Live Scan from the Fresno County Jail ($20).
  3. DMV Commercial Class B license with a passenger endorsement ($75).
  4. CHP VDDP Special Certificate from CHP, to drive a bus with developmental disabledpersons ($57).
  5. DOT Physical Exam is needed when you have a Class B license ($60).

Upon completion of classroom study and behind the wheel instruction, trainees will be tested at the DMV office. Upon successfully completing the

DMV testing, trainees will be issued a commercial class B license with a passenger endorsement by the DMV.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must be at least 21 years of age

  2. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid California Vehicle for Development Disabled Person (VDDP) certification within 30 days of hire

  3. Maintain acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by agency carrier

  4. Obtain a DOT physical and submit to DMV to obtain a CDL w/Passenger endorsement

  5. Must pass a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance, CPR and First Aid training required within six months of hire

  6. Pass required drug and alcohol testing prior to employment, will be subject to continual urine and breathe alcohol testing throughout training.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE WORKPLACE POLICY

Applicants are required to undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to training and will be subject to further urine and breathe alcohol testing through their period of training.

The student is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
