Director of Finance 

Description

NBCC is recruiting for a director of finance. This position is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The director of finance also oversees cost and accounts receivable/collection.

Essential Functions

The following duties and responsibilities are a summary of the essential functions of the job. Other duties might be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities could change periodically.

  1. Prepares, examines, or analyzes accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  2. Computes taxes owed and prepares tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements. Reports to management regarding the finances of establishment.
  3. Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  4. Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  5. Maximizes return and limits risk on cash by minimizing cash balances and making investments.
  6. Provides status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting, and reporting key financial data.
  7. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports. Advises management of actions and potential risks.
  8. Arranges for audits as required and appropriate.
  9. Prepares regular and special budgets.
  10. Manages budgets and controls expenses effectively.
  11. Summarizes budgets and submits recommendations for the approval or disapproval of funds requests.
  12. Hires, trains, develops, and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
  13. Keeps up to date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to inrease innovation and ensure complance.
  14. Other duties as assigned.
