Reporting to the VP/GM, the Operations Manager will have overall responsibility for developing and managing the manufacturing operations of the business by establishing continuous improvement strategies and goals including safety, cost, quality, and performance measures. This position will supervise Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and the Production teams. This leader will apply the ITW Operating Principles to BU Operations while strategizing new ideas to move the business to a higher level. This manager must be a strong business-minded leader capable of driving results, building the talent pipeline, and executing roadmaps and plans for growth. This position will be located in Beecher, IL.


  • Drive for operational excellence by directing manufacturing operations improvements to achieve safety, quality, on-time delivery, inventory, and productivity goals.
  • Establish metrics for improving and tracking quality and operational efficiencies through the use of the ITW Toolbox. Review and track performance against operating plans and standards.
  • Drive solutions by utilizing internal and external resources to solve equipment, tooling, facility and process problems.
  • Define and establish objectives in each area of Operations; including developing specific annual and long-range plans, together with supporting budget and capital requests and financial estimates.
  • Initiate and drive cross functional communication with product management, engineering, and finance to create robust operational alignment. Consult with management of all functional departments to ensure alignment and effectiveness in driving continuous improvement and organic growth.
  • Supervise production manager in the development of plans for the control of MRD production, budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, along with human resource planning and development.
  • Lead manufacturing engineering, facility management and quality team to improve product quality, process efficiency and safety.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the supply chain team to continuously improve material quality, availability, inventory and costs.
  • Ensure environmental regulatory compliance and reporting for federal, state and local requirements.
  • Ensure OSHA compliance and reporting
  • Ensure qualified personnel staff in all positions reporting directly and recommend training needs, provide coaching and development, and keep employees informed as to company/department plans and progress.
Position Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of strategic operations leadership experience; including the responsibilities of safety, quality, and production in a mid-sized operation.
  • Proven P&L experience with strong inventory management, budgeting, and planning capabilities.
  • Demonstrated project management, analytical, strategic, problem solving experience; displaying an ability to work effectively within complex decision making and organizational structures.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate successful cross-functional improvements with analytical skills, including the use of root cause problem-solving tools with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of a variety of operational excellence competencies including, but not limited to: ITW Toolbox, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kaizen, Poke Yoke, etc.
  • Ability to build strong trusted working relationships with internal and external business customers and executive level management; influencing without authority and managing stakeholders/clients’ expectations.
  • Strong leadership and teaming capabilities with the ability to operate independently, affect change across functions, and have a track record of delivering results.
  • Develops self and others with potential for future opportunities in the organization.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/work streams simultaneously.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, to include strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimal travel with ability to travel to Canada– 10% may be required.
