Job Description

Duties:

  • Support operation of custom built, high speed portable hydraulic drills used for geotechnical exploration or geotechnical construction.
  • Work safely and report all accidents and near misses
  • Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (including but not limited to: hard hat, vest, safety toed boots, etc.); utilize fall protection systems; and other safety equipment appropriately and as designated
  • Cleaning equipment and maintaining a clean worksite
  • Mixing drill mud and additives for increasing viscosity or lubrication down the hole
  • Maintaining water source systems including pumps, hoses and water source.
  • Transporting supplies and equipment
  • Using tools, equipment and machinery including pickups, vans, forklifts, pipe wrenches, in compliance with state, federal and/or local regulations and company policy
  • Use ladders or other approved devices safely to reach elevated work surfaces
  • Support operation of grout batch plant use in construction and geotechnical exploration including carrying grout bags and mixing grout as required
  • Responsible for moving and handling heavy drill rods and other equipment necessary to set up drill sites, trip out rod and perform drilling operations
  • Dig and level footings for drills using hand tools and devices
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on compressors and other equipment used on job site
  • Regularly work around moving equipment and components
  • Maintains a safe approach using JSA/JHA and job specific safety awareness
  • Other duties as required within the scope of employment

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to walk and carry loads of up to 100 pounds on uneven and sloping surfaces while being exposed to weather and elements
  • Twist and or reach to accomplish daily activities
  • Regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools or controls with proper PPE
  • Communicate verbally (both speaking and hearing) in potentially noisy environments
  • Must speak and understand English at a level appropriate to receive and comprehend specialized safety and training instructions in potentially noisy environments.
  • Work in remote, difficult access locations
  • Full time travel
  • Must be able to work up to 14 hour days; 7 days per week
  • Exposure to drill mud, additives, and other chemicals

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License without restriction required
  • Must pass (with results acceptable to Crux) applicable background check
  • Must have driving records within company standards
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Willing and able to perform physically strenuous work in all weather conditions
  • OSHA 10 ETD preferred
  • First Aid/CPR preferred
  • 6 months drilling industry field experience preferred.
  • Commercial Driver License Class A preferred
  • Crane operating and rigging experience preferred
  • Mechanical skills with small engine, hydraulic, etc. preferred
