Essential Functions

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Conducts the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to government, foundation, and corporate sources.
  2. Performs prospect research on governmental programs, foundations, and corporations to evaluate prospects for grants.
  3. Works with finance and program staffs to gather information necessary to report on grant-funded programs.
  4. Complies with all grants reporting as required by funders.
  5. Provides stewardship to foundation and corporate donors.
  6. Participates in organizational planning to gain/maintain understanding of institutional history and program needs.
  7. Makes appointments for Executive Director with foundation officers and other prospects and arranges for onsite tours for supporters (foundation officers, foundation trustees).
  8. Maintains grant-related records in database, including grant tracking and reporting.
  9. Tracks statistics relevant to development and provides written materials necessary for donor stewardship.
  10. Works with Communications Manager to provide development input for promotional materials (including Annual Report, e-newsletter).
  11. Assists with other fundraising projects as requested

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with grant writing and grants management.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with nonprofit donor stewardship.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Able to monitor and meet organizational goals.
