Provides emergency trauma response on an on call basis to victims of human trafficking. Conducts initial screening and/or assessment, provides crisis counseling, safety planning, and on-site advocacy at safe locations such as the Crime Victims Assistance Center, detention facilities, group homes, as referred through law enforcement or in hospitals and other Fresno EOC programs; particularly Sanctuary and Youth Services' programs. Provides confidential information regarding victim rights, as well as appropriate referrals through connection to service delivery systems.

Upon acceptance of request by Fresno EOC Sanctuary staff, Human Trafficking Trauma Response Specialist must begin travel no later than 30 minutes of call or upon agreed upon time.

Implements a thorough screening and/or assessment with client.

Provides trauma informed peer crisis counseling

Provides safety planning on an as needed basis

Provides confidential information regarding victim rights

Maintains and provides up to date information regarding appropriate referrals

Maintains and adheres to a strict policy regarding client and case confidentiality.

Advocates for clients and victims of human trafficking.

Participates in training opportunities.

Adheres to all grant requirements.

Attends staff meetings and trainings as requested.

Travels throughout the six-county region as required in personal and/or company vehicle.

Works non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

To execute this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor's Degree in Victimology, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development or related field recommended. Work experience may substitute required education on a year-by-year basis.

Minimum of two years related work experience providing supportive services to youth, adults or young adults. Prior experience working with at-risk and diverse populations highly desirable.

Knowledge of and experience in the field of anti-trafficking. Must obtain certification as a Human Trafficking Case Worker pursuant to Evidence Code 1038.2 upon hire.

Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate participants, and help them overcome barriers. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred and/or other language capacity.

Maintain clear, sufficient case notes on all clients.

Familiarity with the broad range of social, academic, supportive, and employment services available to participants and able to refer participants to the appropriate services.

A basic understanding of poverty, its causes and conditions and its impact on individuals and communities is essential. A strong understanding of Community Action agencies is preferred.

Familiarity with an ethnically/socially diverse community, and a variety of mentoring concepts and techniques.

Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.

Ability to work well with all ages, diverse populations, and with contracted service providers and representatives of partnering agencies.

Maintain a valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law, and insurability by agency carrier.

Pass required background investigation including medical examination and TB clearance, acceptable criminal record statement, Department of Justice fingerprint clearance, and child abuse index clearance.
