Corporate MEP Equipment Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for the conformance, performance, and quality of all MEP equipment across RDC's Data Center construction portfolio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible to directly manage the safety, quality, and conformance of MEP Equipment on all projects.
  • Manage equipment quality including review of Specifications, estimating, bid analysis, PO's, Submittals, FWT, freight/logistics, care/custody, protection, installation, startup, commissioning.
  • Partner with Purchasing and Engineering to qualify suppliers
  • Provide performance management feedback to Purchasing for supplier management.
  • Ensure the practicality of the design meets the broad availability of the supply base
  • Provide constructability reviews and VE into design process.
  • Validate that drawings and specifications accurately reflect the desired equipment quality.
  • Support preconstruction activities to ensure consistency across all projects
  • Attend and ensure FWT's are conducted and documented in accordance with specifications
  • Ensure all field equipment installations are in accordance with the design
  • Ensure all Contractors and Suppliers are following safety best practices.
  • Ensure that Vendor field resources are adequate and capable to support the construction schedules and project demands.
  • Ensure all equipment is specified to be available, and constructible.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Must have overall expertise in Data Center construction. Specific expertise in Electrical systems & controls, power management, high/medium voltage distribution is a plus.
  • Background in MEP Construction and knowledge of Construction means and methods.
  • Operational knowledge of Data Center MEP systems, and the ability to troubleshoot complex performance problems.
  • Familiarity with Equipment manufacturing, factory process and quality control.
  • Expertise in working around energized electrical work, control of hazardous energies, proper PPE for the task, lockout/tagout procedures, and kirk key schemes.
  • Comprehension of critical-path schedule development, management of trade performance and productivity
  • Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Able to work in a team environment. Even tempered and able to work through conflict with others
  • Flexible and willing to consider others ideas
  • Manages stress and/or fast-pace effectively.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Electrical Engineer, Electrical PM, or Master Electrician with an extensive career in building complex industrial electrical systems.
  • >10 years in the trades
  • >5 years' experience in the data center industry
  • High school diploma; college degree preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiarity with construction sites and hazards and ability to navigate project sites safely and in control
  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • 50%: Standard office; Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises; extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.
  • 50%: Construction jobsite at various levels of development

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel up to 50% of the time. May require higher percentage of travel for shorter periods of time
  • Must work out of the Sacramento; no telecommuting permitted.
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
