SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Supervisor Food Service the Cashier Food Service Sanitation worker is responsible for all daily cash transactions, documentation and security of cash flow during the course of the work day. This person will also ensure the dining area and kitchen equipment are cleaned and well stocked and all duties are performed in accordance with departmental and military policies practices and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Execute daily cash transactions and Point of Sale register duties according to set policies and procedures (i.e. cash handling, signatures/verification of documentation, change requisitions, food price entry and daily reports).
  2. Provide excellent customer service.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of register area, dining room and designated kitchen areas.
  4. Assist with serving food and bussing tables.
  5. Perform general pot and pan washing and operate dishwashers daily.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities, co-workers, supervisors and military personnel.
  • Must encompass a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Ability to count/exchange money to complete all sales transactions.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year verifiable work experience in the related field (i.e. retail cashier).
  • Preferred: Experience cashiering in a food service environment.
