Director, Patient Advocacy

Description
  • Lead strategic development, execution, and ongoing evaluation of patient advocacy and community engagement plan
  • Identify synergies and support opportunities that advance kaleo’s business objectives and the objectives of the advocacy organizations
  • Represent kaleo by serving as the primary point of contact with patient advocacy groups in the community; establishing and maintaining collaborative, mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships and trust
  • Facilitate engagement with community through active participation in local, regional, and national advocacy events as well as other sponsorship opportunities (e.g. walks, exhibits, education days, chapter meetings, industry forums, conferences, etc.)
  • Provide medically accurate information and educational programming/resources about kaleo, appropriate disease states, and other non-branded topics as necessary
  • Leverage clinical experience to contribute to the development of non-branded support and educational resources/programs based on unmet needs in the community; facilitate and execute educational programs at local level
  • Serve as an internal resource for innovative thinking as it relates to new patient trends and activities to support unmet needs in the community
  • Effectively manage responsibilities, including program management and outreach initiatives, communication with senior leadership and cross-functional team members, development of budget and monitoring of expenditures, revising spending as needed; provide reporting to leadership as requested
  • Exhibit high ethical and professional standards; understands and adheres to HIPAA, patient privacy and all corporate compliance policies

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s level degree required. Advanced degree preferred in life sciences, healthcare, health policy or related field with 5-8 years of relevant professional experience
  • Minimum of 2-5 years experience working in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry (e.g. advocacy relations, patient services, medical education, patient education, case management, and/or field-based work, etc.), with an understanding of regulatory bodies and guidelines that impact communications to patient organizations/patients
  • Previous work or clinical experience in educating and supporting patients and caregivers
  • Experience facilitating and leading clinical/medical education programs and discussions with patients and caregivers; strong, engaging speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects at once and capable of managing shifting priorities in a rapidly changing environment
