SUMMARY

Performs duties as a technical writer/editor and works as a resource specialist in writing, cataloging and maintaining of government technical publications; creates, writes and edits publications, including reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, procedures and related materials; and conducts interviews with subject-matter experts to understand and present technical materials and parameters of technical content and the presentation of such content.

DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Organizes and writes required technical and government material using word processing software per establish contract standards with respect to order, style, terminology and sequencing
  • Reviews publications and recommends revisions or changes in approaches, scope, format, test, methods of production and dissemination
  • Maintains contract standards for publications
  • Consults with technical team leads and subject-matter experts to ensure common understanding of publications and related materials to be produced
  • Develops cataloging systems and maintains records, files, electronic media and archiving of information for publications in a business unit for corporate references
  • Selects or recommends use of layouts, graphics, drawings, tables, exhibits, illustrations, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify publications objectives
  • Periodically audits and reviews publications to determine whether format or content changes/updates are required. Meets with subject-matter experts for concurrence as to content changes
  • Remains current on new developments in technical writing, editing and publishing, including technological enhancements that may affect the corporation
  • Assists in preparing material for technical seminars and Government forums
  • May be called upon to assist in technical or Government presentations in such meetings as contract or client needs require

 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferable in English/Journalism)
  • Six (6) years of demonstrated experience writing and editing publications, including:
  • technical documents such as operational plans, strategic plans, needs assessments, research reports policy and information papers
  • Excellent writing skills required, as is the ability to analyze, synthesize, and condense text that includes technical information that is intended for use by non-technical lay audiences
  • For publications printed and distributed by government clients, also requires demonstrated knowledge of writing, editing, and style guidelines and printing regulations of the Government Printing Office
  • Current Defense Security Service issued TOP SECRET clearance
