Description

As Seasonal Volunteer Coordinator you will be responsible for preparation and coordination of the volunteer operation in the Magical Forest and related events. This position requires strong organization and customer service skills, building relationships with volunteers on behalf of OV, ensuring a fun and effective volunteer operation on a nightly basis, and capturing and reporting data. There are evening hours and weekend responsibilities with this position that may require extended hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates the volunteer operation in the Magical Forest and related events and projects.
  2. Stewards volunteers in order to strengthen partnerships and ongoing volunteer engagement.
  3. Ensures volunteers have a great experience from start to finish.
  4. Maintains updated records on all volunteers utilizing digital and web-based systems.
  5. Reports to volunteer operations manager and fundraising event staff.
  6. Supports planning and execution of volunteer recognition programs and appreciation events.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct staff supervisory responsibilities, but does oversee a large volume of volunteers 100+.

 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Must possess social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors. Outstanding social, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Comfortable working with a variety of community partners and volunteer groups
  • Superb organizational, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Strategic thinker with good judgment, initiative, and confidence
  • High level of integrity and professionalism; creative, flexible, and resourceful
  • Ability to set priorities, follow through to complete tasks, work well under pressure and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Software expertise in MS Office programs and ability to work within electronic environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and to manage simultaneously a variety of projects
  • Ability to be aware of workflow and assist where needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Prior experience as volunteer coordinator for public or nonprofit employer.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in events.
